Pope Leo XIV greets the faithful and the world invoking peace and pledging to work for a united Church faithful to Jesus and to the Gospel.

Biography of Pope Leo XIV, born Robert Francis Prevost

Prayer for the Pope

O God, eternal Shepherd of the faithful, who tend Your Church in countless ways and rule over her in love, grant, we pray, that Leo, Your servant, whom You have set over Your people, may preside in the place of Christ over the flock whose shepherd he is, and be faithful as a teacher of doctrine, a Priest of sacred worship and as one who serves them by governing. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever.

Here are some inspirational quotes from Pope Leo XIV before he became pope:

“The bishop is not supposed to be a little prince sitting in his kingdom. But rather called authentically to be humble, to be close to the people he serves, to walk with them, to suffer with them, and to look for ways that he can better live the Gospel message in the midst of his people.”

“We are often preoccupied with teaching doctrine, the way of living our faith, but we risk forgetting that our first task is to teach what it means to know Jesus Christ and to bear witness to our closeness to the Lord. This comes first: to communicate the beauty of the faith, the beauty and joy of knowing Jesus. It means that we ourselves are living it and sharing this experience.”

Diocesan Annual Campaign 2025:
Living Our Faith as Pilgrims of Hope:
Your gift to the Diocesan Annual Campaign...

Hope And Healing
Since 1944, Catholic Charities of Harrisburg has been serving the needs of others in our communities. Peace and understanding, hope and healing, care and comfort are available for all who come to us. We rely on you to continue to expand and sustain our programs.

Faith Formation
Strengthening our faith and teaching our youngest Catholics what we believe is integral to all our evangelization efforts. Sacramental preparation is part of this process. This past year, over 1700 youth received the Sacrament of Confirmation and more than 1600 received their First Holy Communion.

Youth Engagement
From Sacramental Preparation to CYO programs for our youth, to Catholic Campus Ministry efforts on 12 local college campuses, our youth and young adults have opportunities to grow their faith. Catholic education, through parish-based programs and our 33 elementary schools and high schools, continues to thrive in Central Pennsylvania.

Sacred Heart of Jesus Parish Goal:
$25,916. So far 58 of the 180 families of our parish have made their gift/pledge, collecting $21,138 toward our parish goal. We’re almost there! If each family gave $175, we would meet & exceed our goal. Won’t you join them to support the work of the Diocesan Church?
